Date March 2006
Title 'Bael na mBlath'

The title is the location in Irish gaelic where Michael Collins, Commander-in-Chief of the Irish Army, met his end near Bandon in County Cork in an IRA ambush in August 1922.

Jack has always been fascinated by it and was inspired to write the following poem.

Homage to Michael Collins

If you've can't escape
The jaws of death
You are just as well dying
In a place
Called Bael na mBlath
The mouth of flowers
