Islay Stott
Retiral Presentation
|
After a career of fifty-four years in the Post Office, Islay Stott retired as Postmistress of Collieston Post Office in December 2008, when the branch was closed and replaced with an outreach service.
Aged fifteen, Islay started working for the Post Office at the Aberdeen Holburn Street Branch where she remained for eight years, moving to Collieston in 1961 to run the Village Shop and Post Office with her new husband, Abbie.
Over the past forty-seven years Islay and Abbie have seen many changes in the village. What has remained constant is their commitment and loyalty to their friends and both are held in high regard by the local community in Collieston and Slains.
A special ceremony was held recently where Islay and Abbie were presented with gifts from local children on behalf of the local community.
