Stanley Rainey

'Ballymorran Bay, Strangford Lough'

Oil

Stanley Rainey was born many moons ago in Belfast Northern Ireland, which is of course famous for other things as well. He has been painting for a very long time, about 70 years, in oils, water colour, and very occasionally acrylics. He is largely self taught, and by long association with a number of professional artists. He is an associate member of the Art Society of Ulster, and recently won a prize at the Society's annual exhibition. He has exhibited widely in Northern Ireland and also in the Republic. He tries to simply 'hold the mirror to nature' and is interested in movement, water and reflections, and as a result has been inspired by the River Lagan, Strangford Lough and yachting.
