Perhaps you would like to be involved in helping out at various village events but feel that joining a Committee is not for you. There are a number of other ways by which you can make your support count. These include:
- Weeding and/or looking after a flower tub
- Manning a bar at events
- Stewarding an event
- Waiter/waitress at functions or at “teas”
- Washing dishes
- Setting up the hall and tents for events and clearing up afterwards
- Beach cleaning
- Grass cutting or strimming
The list is endless - no doubt you have additional ideas. Whatever they are your help will be really appreciated.
If, however, you are interested in joining the Committee, there is nothing to stop you! All residents and householders of Collieston and Slains are eligible to stand for membership at the Annual General Meeting which is held in September. Each application must be supported by two signatures from other householders/residents of the area. The Committee can also co-opt members to perform specific or general tasks between AGMs.
As a Committee member you would be expected to attend meetings held approximately every six weeks and also to offer to help with, or organise, the various events and activities that go on throughout the year.
In return you’ll get the chance to make a real difference to the community and the people who live in it and visit it. Being a member of Collieston Amenities Committee is very rewarding - and it’s good fun too (well most of the time!).
Collieston Amenities Committee needs enthusiastic volunteers so it can continue to organise events and provide the amenities we all enjoy. Contact any Committee member if you would like to find out more.
